the “you live with your parents” insult is really flaccid because a metric shitton of cultures don’t see “leave the house forever” as some grandiose moment of liberation that’s so important to the development of a person that it has to happen as fast as possible. until i came to the USA i didn’t know a single person who was pressured by their parents to leave the house because they’re “too old to stay there” or whatever. in puerto rico it is really common to stay with your parents until they and you are both stable enough that you can leave. whaddaya know, there are cultures that don’t place a stigma on being poor or wanting to care for your family or needing your family to care for you for some other reason.
1000 Tees - 455
This was a joke I made on Twitter that I think would make a pretty chill shirt and tank top. What do you think?
With stuff like this I always want to draw a hand type, but sometimes people just like something so simple and direct as bold type on a shirt. Hand drawn type tends to do well on shirts with an illustration, at least when I’m working - my illustration style is kind of heta-uma (“bad-good,” or maybe it’s just heta-heta, "bad bad") so hand type tends to work best accompanying it - an actual font just looks too crisp and regular next to my drawings, I think. If it’s JUST type on the shirt, a font on its own tends to work well for me - I’m just not good enough at hand-drawn type (yet!!!) for it to work by itself.
This is one of the three upcoming new tees, and there will be a limited number of tank tops available as well. I decided to go super simple with this one; I think it works better this way.
The other two tees/tanks are collaborative pieces with two friends of mine, and I’ll reveal them soon.
This will go online with some reprints and other stuff by the first week of September.
